BTCCSquare news:

Phishing attacks targeting cryptocurrency investors escalated sharply in August, resulting in $12.17 million in stolen assets—a 72% increase from July. Blockchain security firm Scam Sniffer reported 15,230 victims, marking a 67% rise in incidents. The attacks predominantly exploited fake websites, malicious smart contracts, and deceptive wallet prompts to drain funds irreversibly.

High-net-worth investors, or 'whales,' bore the brunt of the losses. The top three single incidents accounted for $5.62 million, nearly half of August's total. This trend underscores the growing sophistication of crypto scams and their disproportionate impact on large holders.
